At Grassroots Cafe we truly believe food is medicine. What we decide to nourish our body with directly decided how we are able to express health. In a world that can feel hard to make healthy choices, we want to be the light. We believe in lots of things - our community and clean food included!
Our foods are always 100% gluten free, vegan options (dairy free alternatives). We emphasize the use of organic, locally-sourced and hypoallergenic ingredients. No artificial coloring or flavoring.
Our cafe allows you to build your own clean meal picking your grains, greens, protein, toppings and house-made dressing.
Pair it with coffee, smoothie, a side of soup, and bakery item! All the nourishment, none of the guilt.

Our Story
The “roots” of Grassroots Cafe began with a dream by Dr. Lori Zettell to bring healthier eating options to her community; to be a hub for wellness. This vision was followed up with a lot of action by Dr. Zettell in creating Outside the Box Wellness Cafe. OBX quickly became a place people gathered to find healthier food options, community and connection. Life connected Dr. Zettell with Dr. Abby Sirovica, owner of Grassroots Collective, and the two quickly realized their vision for health, healing, community and this amazing staple in Marshall, MI was in alignment.
This began the transition of OBX to Grassroots Cafe. Although the name became a marriage of the Grassroots Collective and this Wellness Cafe, the wonderful staff, community that supports this hub, loved recipes and mission remains the same. With each amazing season of life comes change and we can’t wait to pour the same level of love and energy into Grassroots Cafe and the community!
Our dream is to support a place where food is real. Food is clean. True health and wellness is accessible and we can feel good nourishing ourselves and our families!
